So I know it's been a while, however I do have good reason. As you may remember from my last post, I asked for prayers for several little girls suffering from cancer. One of them being a first grader in Brady's class. As the homeroom parent, I was asked to coordinated fundraising efforts on behalf of the family. I am so overwhelmed by the generosity that has been shown to this family. I sent home letters with all the students at the school for donations and the response has been amazing. I was also asked to try to coordinate some sort of "spirit" night to help raise money as well. Unfortunately due to the tight timeline (the school year is almost over) and the expense needed to hold such a function, we came up with a different plan. I came up with a logo for t-shirts and Matthew and I worked together to get local businesses to donate money to be used to purchase the t-shirts. The businesses in turn got their logo on the back of the t-shirt and we were able to completely cover the cost of the shirts. This allowed us to be able to give 100% of the money from the sale of the shirts to the family. After much running around collecting money and artwork/logos, and approvals from public school administration and all the other red tape to make this happen, I picked up the shirts yesterday from the screen printers and we sold them this afternoon/evening at our PTA meeting. It was an amazing success. I want to thank not only our very generous sponsors, but the overwhelming support of our teachers/parents/students who purchased the shirts.
